The 2017 National PTA LegCon will feature workshops on key education issues facing the new Congress, with discussions and trainings on how PTA advocates can shape public policy at home and on Capitol Hill in 2017 and in the years to come. Cancellation and Refund Policy If you need to cancel, you will need to make the request in writing. Meal tickets cannot be cancelled and are not refundable. If your request is submitted by the refund deadline of January 24, 2017, you will receive a refund on the registration fee only, minus a $75 processing fee for each cancelled record. No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received after January 24, 2017. All written requests must be submitted via email at NPTAMeetings@pta.org. Credit cards will be refunded within 1 week of receipt of request. Checks will be issued in the name of the original payer. Please allow 6 weeks for refund checks to be issued. Badge and Ticket Reprint Policy Badges Badges may be reprinted 1 time only, at a fee of $25, payable at the time of printing. No badges will be printed any additional times. Event Tickets Tickets will not be reprinted. They should be treated as cash and it is the attendee’s responsibility to ensure receipt of purchased tickets before leaving the on-site registration area. Mobile Phone, Video Recording, and Live Streaming Policies Attendees are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones and/or tablet cameras, and all other audio and/or video recording devices during National PTA meeting sessions. Recording and live streaming with any devices during National PTA sessions, meetings and workshops without prior written consent from National PTA is strictly prohibited. Video cameras and recording equipment, other than that approved by the president, shall not be permitted in the general meetings. Attendees may not take videos of speakers presenting. Attendees not adhering to this policy may be asked to leave the room and will be asked to delete all videos already taken; repeat offenders will be asked to leave the conference and no refunds will be granted. When you register, you are required to agree that you acknowledge and will adhere to this policy. Personal photography is permitted. Cell Phone Policy Talking on mobile phones is strictly prohibited during all National PTA conference sessions, meetings and workshops. Cell phones should always be in silent mode during sessions, meetings, and workshops to avoid disruption. ADA Information and Assistance If you have a condition which requires accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and you require accommodations at the event, please contact the National PTA Meetings Department at NPTAMeetings@pta.org to describe the condition and the specific nature of the requested accommodations. National PTA will provide accommodations in accordance with law. Safe Meeting, Misconduct, and Admission Policy National PTA is a professional, not-for-profit association committed to providing valuable and safe conference and exhibition experiences. National PTA is dedicated to equal opportunity and treatment for all its members, meeting attendees, staff, and service providers. Attendees are expected to be respectful to other attendees, National PTA staff, and service providers. Harassment and other misconduct will not be tolerated. National PTA, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to accept or decline an individual's registration for an event. Further, National PTA, reserves the right to prohibit entry or remove any individual whether registered or not, whether they are attendees, exhibitors, representatives, or vendors, who in National PTA’s sole opinion are not, or whose conduct is not, in keeping with the character and purpose of the event. Without limiting the foregoing, National PTA reserves the right to confiscate badges/credentials, remove, or refuse entry to any attendee, exhibitor, representative, or vendor who has registered or gained access under false pretenses, provided false information, or for any other reason whatsoever that they deem is cause under the circumstances. In such a case, if any fees have been paid, no refunds will be given. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) Will there be a registration table? Yes, the registration table will be located outside of the main event hall. Registration will be open at the following dates and times: Tuesday, March 7—7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8—7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to LegCon? No, there will be a registration table at which all attendees will receive a conference badge that must be worn at all times during LegCon. Can I update my registration information? Every registrant will receive a confirmation email that will include an order summary, order number and logistics for the event. If you wish to change your registration information, you need to create an account through Eventbrite using the same email that you used to register for the conference. After creating an account you will be able to review and edit your registration. You can also contact National PTA’s Meetings Department at NPTAMeetings@pta.org for help. What is covered in my LegCon registration fee? The LegCon registration fee covers all National PTA-hosted workshops and events starting at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 through Wednesday, March 8. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to all registrants on March 8. All attendees will receive a LegCon tote bag and advocacy-related materials. Who can buy LegCon meal tickets and what is included in each meal ticket purchase? Meal ticket options are available for purchase by LegCon attendees’ family members for LegCon breakfast, lunch and dinner events on March 8. Each meal ticket covers a single event (breakfast, lunch or dinner), but purchasers are welcome to purchase and attend as many meals as they would like. Each ticket purchase covers the cost of the purchaser’s food. All meal ticket purchasers should arrive to the registration desk to pick up their conference badge, which specifies the meals that they purchased. Only individuals with a conference badge specifying the meals that they purchased will be permitted to attend the LegCon events on March 8. Below are the meal ticket options available for purchase and the meals and events they cover. LegCon Breakfast and General Session Ticket: $49 This ticket covers the cost of breakfast, attendance to the general session and guest speakers from 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. on March 8. LegCon Lunch and Advocacy Awards Ticket: $56 This ticket covers the cost of a plated lunch, attendance to the Advocacy Awards ceremony and keynote speakers from 12:30 p.m. – 2:40 p.m. on March 8. LegCon Reception and Dinner Ticket: $95 This ticket covers the cost of dinner, attendance for the guest speaker, reception and evening activities from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on March 8. What are my transportation/parking options for LegCon? The Crystal Gateway Marriott provides a complimentary airport shuttle (to and from Reagan National Airport) and is connected to the Crystal City Metro Station. Onsite, garage parking is available at a discounted rate of 40% off current rates (currently $15 per hour, up to $29 per night). How can I receive more information about National PTA’s advocacy work? All LegCon registrants will receive more information about PTA’s advocacy efforts and public policy priorities via email leading up to LegCon. How do I schedule Hill meetings for Thursday, March 9? As part of the 2017 LegCon, attendees will participate in Capitol Hill meetings with their federal legislators. National PTA will send instructions to Federal Legislative Chairs (FLCs)—liaisons for federal policy and advocacy in their state PTA—and State Presidents in January. National PTA Government Affairs staff will contact all other LegCon attendees upon their confirmed registration regarding Hill Meetings. Yes, National PTA encourages all attendees to meet with their Members of Congress whenever it is convenient for both parties to meet. Most Members of Congress host a weekly constituent coffee on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings. To find out when your Congressman’s constituent coffee is, check out your Member’s website by visiting House.gov and Senate.gov, or call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and an operator will connect you with your Member’s office. If there is a constituent coffee during the week of LegCon, feel free to attend and notify Lindsay Kubatzky (Lkubatzky@PTA.org) so we are aware of your plans. How will I travel to Capitol Hill for my scheduled Hill meetings on Thursday, March 9? Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from Capitol Hill. However, National PTA Board Members, National PTA Legislation Committee Members, State Presidents and Federal Legislative Chairs will be reimbursed for their travel expenses to and from the Hill, up to a total of $10. The Crystal Gateway Marriott is connected to the Crystal City Metro Station which can transport attendees to Capitol Hill for an estimated cost of $2.50. Taxis will also be available to transport attendees to Capitol Hill for an estimated cost of $15. Further instructions on Hill meetings and travel to and from Capitol Hill will be provided via communications leading up to LegCon and during a workshop session on Wednesday afternoon during the conference.
