An exhibition tour of many ‘never before seen’ photographs of David Bowie is set to visit Germany this Spring. The tour is titled ‘David & I’. Off Beat Lounge, in conjunction with David Bowie’s official photographer Denis O’Regan, is continuing its sell out European tour at specially adapted Aston Martin showrooms, exhibiting over 60 photographs, many of which have never been seen by the public before. Documenting Denis O’Regan’s time touring the world with David Bowie, the tour visits the British Embassy in Berlin on Friday 20th April & Aston Martin’s showroom in Berlin on Monday 23rd April, followed by visits to Aston Martin showrooms in Dresden, Hamburg, Duesseldorf and Memmingen. As well as being official photographer to Bowie during the 1983 ‘Serious Moonlight’ tour, the 1987 ‘Glass Spider’ tour and the 1990 ‘Sound & Vision’ tour, Denis O’Regan has also toured the world as official photographer to the Rolling Stones, Queen, Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Spandau Ballet, Thin Lizzy, Neil Diamond and the Bee Gees. Denis, says “I first saw David as Ziggy Stardust at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, then toured with him ten years later at the peak of his career, photographing two world tours, more than any photographer in his entire career. I’m pleased that Off Beat Lounge is making some of David and my favourite images – and anecdotes - available to collectors and fans alike. Very special guest photographer, Chalkie Davies worked as a staff photographer at the New Musical Express (NME) from 1975-79 shooting numerous front covers and features on artists including Elvis Costello, Ian Dury, Debbie Harry, Paul McCartney, The Clash, The Ramones and The Rolling Stones … “I’m so pleased to be asked to preview a little of my work on this tour. Denis is one of the greatest photographers of live music, and we’ve known each other for over thirty years.” “I worked with David many times. The second night at Hammersmith Odeon, when Ziggy ‘died’ was a magical event. It will forever stay in my memory, especially as I was shooting David from the empty orchestra pit and he was literally only a few feet away. Denis was also there that night, and I know that he agrees … as performers go, David was the best ever. No one who saw any of the shows on that tour will ever forget the experience, they changed music forever, and influenced both my career and Denis’.” The collaboration between Denis O’Regan and Off Beat Lounge will mean that fans can view this unique and personal photographic collection of David Bowie at one night exhibition events, giving them the chance to see rare, intimate moments from backstage, relaxing between gigs and on stage. Denis will also be in attendance, giving VIP ticket holders a chance to attend a meet and greet ‘question and answer’ session, as he chats about his life photographing the worlds biggest rock icons.
