The Brisbane Aviation Professionals Society is celebrating its second anniversary! Two years ago I realised that we have a diverse and exciting aviation industry in and around Brisbane. Airlines like Virgin Australia, Alliance Airlines or Jetgo call Brisbane their home base. Brisbane Airport is the fastest growing Airport in Australia and many businesses supporting airlines and airports are based in South East Queensland. This was reason enough for me to move forward with the idea of founding a networking community which fosters the exchange of ideas, discussion of developments and simply provides a great opportunity to network in a relaxed atmosphere. So far, the idea has been proven to be a good one! The Brisbane Aviation Professionals Society is continuously growing and will be coming together for the 7th time since it's foundation in 2015.In the meantime we have launched our B•A•P•S website and we would like to encourage you to update your details by following this link (www.b-a-p-s.com) and by filling out the form in the 'Become a Member' section. The 7th B•A•P•S meeting will take place on Thursday, Feb 23rd from 6.00pm till 9.00pm at Workshop#14. The owner Anne Scott will host us for these three hours with a selection of crafted beer, fine wines and soft drinks. It will be the perfect location for getting to know new people, catching up with friends and colleagues and off course networking with like minded people who share the same interest and passion - Aviation! This time we can look forward to an extremely interesting keynote from Tom Vincent, Managing Director of the APAS Group of Companies. The APAS Group was established in 2009 after identifying the need for a dedicated aircraft storage and part-out facility for carriers and lessors with assets in the Asia-Pacific region. Tom has been responsible for developing the APAS Group from a green-field site in Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, to a rapidly expanding commercial aircraft storage and part-out facility. APAS customers include Qantas Airways, Singapore Airlines, Tiger Singapore, AWAS, Icelandair, Virgin Australia, Nauru Airlines and Scoot. Prior to entering the aviation industry, Tom was based in London from 2004 – 2008 as a VP in the Deutsche Bank AG, London Distressed Products Group (DPG). During this period he was a credit analyst, responsible for evaluating and recommending investment opportunities throughout distressed company capital structures. Tom holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws, BCom/LLB (Honours) from the University of Queensland, Australia, is a non-executive director of an Australian (ASX listed) oil and gas exploration company and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Tom will tell us this evening about his journey of... "Building a specialised MRO from scratch - Aircraft Storage and Part-Out in Australia" Free parking is available around the venue (Harbour Rd/Hercules St) at all times or under the building from 6pm until 11pm sharp.
