An AHDC educational event - Implementation of Digital Integration into Hospital Planning and Building The implementation of Digital Integration systems requires the capture and exchange of information in the health space to be integrated with disparate systems such as Electronic (patient) Medical Records (EMR), Pathology, Radiology, and the burgeoning Medical equipment interfaces which include minimally invasive surgical, robotic and Interventional equipment such as MRI. The successful implementation of these systems poses major challenges in facility design. The requirements of best practice in patient care to incorporate and future proof these systems drives the design and construction of our health care facilities. Understanding the interface between the technical requirements of the design and build-ability is an ongoing challenge for our Industry. This Seminar will present subject matter by experts from both the Integration and build-ability perspective and will be of vital interest to all involved in health facility design. Speakers: Tom Craddock and Arch Fotheringham.Tom will present from the Information Communications Technology (ICT) planning and design perspective, and Arch will present lessons learnt from the build-ability perspective. Tom Craddock, Director, Hospital IT: Tom Craddock and Geoff Peach were colleagues leading the delivery of the Gold Coast University Hospital, and it was on this project that they recognised their similar values and passion for providing smart healthcare solutions in the IT space. They formed Hospital IT, which combines the lean thinking of a start-up, with the discipline and expertise required to deliver major pieces of work. Hospital IT is a leader in delivering innovative solutions that support the delivery of patient centred care. Their focus is on using integrated systems to extract valuable information from the organisation, enabling them to apply focussed bespoke solutions, and helping care givers provide the best care to patients in an efficient and effective way. Arch Fotheringham – Director of Health Projects for Multiplex: Arch has over 40 years of experience in the delivery of Health projects in Australia and the UK. He has responsibility for the group’s almost $1 billion worth of current health and aged care projects in Australia including the redevelopment of the St George Hospital in NSW, University of Canberra Public Hospital, Werribee Mercy Hospital in Victoria and the Karratha Health Campus in WA. Arch is an industry leader in health construction with a detailed understanding of complex, new and brownfield health facilities. Following our speakers there will be an opportunity to network with AHDC members, the speakers and colleagues.
