BARTÓK Divertimento for String Orchestra (selections) ENESCU Octet Op. 7 (selections) STRAUSS II The Blue Danube DVOŘÁK Serenade for Strings GABOR TAKÁCS-NAGY conductor Flowing through ten countries, the majestic Danube river has inspired generations of culture along its banks; however, not many will ever surpass the significance or popularity of Johann Strauss II’s “Blue Danube Waltz”, which celebrates 150 years of performances in 2017. This special concert will see an international commemoration with musicians from Hungary, Romania, Austria, and Germany, countries who all share the Danube. Hungarian conductor Gabor Takács-Nagy will be joined by students from leading European conservatories, including the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Hanover University of Music Drama and Media, Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, National University of Music Bucharest, as well as students from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
