Student journals are on the increase, as publishing skills become ever more widely recognised as a vital element in academic careers and employability. A number of UK universities have impressive student journals up and running, and many more are in the process of discussing or setting up similar initiatives. This event will discuss journals for both taught and research students. Speakers from varying perspectives will share their experiences – advantages and drawbacks, successes, challenges and surprises – and all attendees will have the opportunity to contribute. Speakers include librarians, academics and students from the universities of Surrey, Warwick and Manchester, and publishers from Manchester University Press, UCL Press and the White Rose Press.Attendance is free but numbers are strictly limited.
