Join us for 2 hours of insightful discussions with FinTech thought leaders on the latest innovations and developments in FinTech. The MAS International Technology Advisory Panel (ITAP), formed in 2016, comprises some of the world's leading VCs, technologists and innovators in finance to advise the MAS on Singapore’s financial technology strategies. The MAS is collaborating with SMU to organise 2 rounds of panel discussions with these Global Fintech Leaders for students from IHLs and industry professionals. Each round comprises four different panels that take place concurrently. Each panel will address a separate topic. Each person is only allowed to register for one panel per round (Max of 1 panel from Panels 1-4 and 1 panel from panels 5-8) Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The panel discussions will be held at SMU, School of Economics. The panellists and panel topics are subject to change. Round 1 of Panel Discussions: 9:30am—10:20am (30 min of panel discussion, 20min Q&A) Panel 1: Blockchain, ICOs, and Cryptocurrencies Are ICOs the future of funding or a sign of irrational exuberance? 2017 has seen the rapid rise of Initial Coin Offerings (ICO). The panel will discuss whether ICOs are here to stay or a bubble. Moderator: David Treat (MD, Accenture) 1. David Rutter (CEO, R3) 2. Pieter Franken (CTO, Monex Securities) Panel 2: Future of Banking How will banking continue to evolve for Millennials? The experts will discuss the current state of banking and the emerging technologies that will change the banking experience for Millennials, the most mobile and tech-savvy segment. Moderator: Sassan Danesh (CEO, Etrading software) 1. David Ku (CEO, Webank) 2. Michael Stumm (Cofounder, Oanda) 3. David Gurle (CEO, Symphony) Panel 3: InsurTech How will InsurTech evolve in the digital age? As internet and mobile penetration increases across the world, the role that insurance plays and the way it is marketed and distributed have started to change. ANS: You are only allowed to sign up for 1 panel per round (basically 1 session from Panels 1 to 4 and 1 session from Panels 5 to 8) as four different panels are held concurrently during each round. 2) What happens if I sign up for more than 1 panel per round of panels? ANS: We reserve the right to randomly allocate you to one of the panels that you have chosen for the particular round. This is to ensure fairness for all registrants. 3) Which email address should I sign up with? ANS: Please use your school's or company’s email address to sign up for the event. 4) What is the dress code? ANS: Smart casual (Blazer and tie are not required). 5) What am I supposed to bring on the day of the event? ANS: Please bring along your identification card/NRIC/Passport. 6) What am I supposed to do prior to the event? ANS: You may wish to prepare some questions for our panelists.
