Please join us for Summer Programs Change Lives, a Power of 3:00 Summit on Summer Learning, held November 14, 2017 at the Rosenthal Pavilion at NYU's Kimmel Center in New York City. As the research continues to grow on the impacts of summer learning loss, particularly on students from underserved communities, summer programs across the state are addressing these issues through innovative, enriching summer experiences. Join us as we highlight the impacts of summer learning loss, the work of summer programs across the state addressing the issue, and hear from three Summer Learning Scholars as they share their experiences with summer programs and the impacts they have had on their lives. Featured Speakers: Karim Abouelnaga - Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Practice Makes Perfect Anna Drezen - Comedian, Author, and Emmy-nominated writer for Saturday Night Live Registration will begin at 9:45am and the event will begin promptly at 10am. Lunch and Working Session (12:30 - 2pm):Capacity limited An optional working session with lunch will be held from 12:30pm – 2:00pm after the conclusion of the Summit. We will use this time to break into groups to assist attendees in creating a framework or roadmap for summer learning to implement in their communities or regions. We will be joined by staff from the National Summer Learning Association who will provide resources and expertise on systems building during this portion of the day. We will also provide a session for attendees to plan and strategize around sustainability of summer learning funding, including a push to baseline summer funding in New York City.
