UTS Backstage is thrilled to present our final slot for the year: THE CHILDREN’S HOUR written by Lillian Hellman. Set in the 1930s, this drama follows the destruction of the reputation, careers, and relationships of schoolmistresses Karen Wright and Martha Dobie at the hands of bored schoolgirl Mary Tilford. A tale of blackmail, forbidden passion, outrage, and queer identity, the staging of this play comes at a crucial point in Australian society. The opening night of this seminal piece of LGBTQ+ theatre coincides with the release of the marriage plebiscite. Let’s hope to celebrate together in the Bon Marche from Wednesday November 15-Friday November 17. Please be aware that this production contains heavy themes: feel free to contact PR for more details.
