Confronting Bullying and Workplace Violence with Richard Matthews Dr. Richard Matthews is a bioethicist and moral philosopher with specific interests in the nature of violence. Cross-cultural ethics, privilege and oppression are of particular importance in his work, especially the impact of economic, social and cultural power upon vulnerable and marginalized populations. Dr. Matthews has published a book on the ethics of torture: the Absolute Violation: Why Torture must be Prohibited (Montreal & Kingston: MQUP, 2008) as well as a variety of articles on torture and violence. Prior to taking up his current position, he was a faculty member at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Mount Allison University, Brandon University, and King's University College at the University of Western Ontario.
