Business Analytics 101 – Enhancing your understanding of how to grow your business with Data Analytics This is an introduction to the world of business analytics. Maybe you've heard the term, or maybe you're already deep into the analytics of your business, but this info session will include: What is Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Science? About the Business Analytics Graduate Program: This program prepares graduates to work in the growing and dynamic field of business analytics. Students will learn the techniques and tools of analytical decision making and utilize these skills to drive the competitiveness of an organization. Students will be exposed to generic analytics modeling as well as specialization in the areas or marketing, operations, and business strategy. Students will also be introduced to machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts, and, how to implement supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to solve real world problems. Through applied learning techniques such as problem based learning and work placement students will be able to apply their learning to real world problems. Business Analytics experts and Data Scientists are currently in high demand, especially with increasing possibilities of leveraging the high volume, velocity and variety of data available in today’s digital world to support business strategy, enhance customer experience, and, solve real life problems in real time. Graduates from this program have opportunities to work in various sectors, including IT, Retail, Banking, Finance, Insurance, Health, Education sectors. About Patrick Egbunonu: Patrick Egbunonu is currently Professor and Program Coordinator of Business Analytics at St Lawrence College, Kingston. He helped develop the novel graduate diploma Business Analytics program and currently teaches courses in Data Mining, Analytical Software, Management Science, Strategic Analytics (Problem Based Learning) and Operational Analytics (Problem Based Learning), in the program. Patrick founded the student Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Club at St Lawrence College, where he currently serves as a Strategic Advisor. He also teaches Operations Management and Applied Management Science courses in the Laurentian University Degree program that is delivered through St Lawrence College. In addition, Patrick sits on the City of Kingston’s Workforce Development and In-Migration Analytics Working Group and, is the current Chair of the committee. Patrick’s applied research interest is in the use of Artificial Intelligent systems to improve education in Africa. Patrick completed his Undergraduate Degree in Chemical Engineering after which he worked briefly at PricewaterhouseCoopers and later as an Account Executive in a bank. He later completed a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, with specialization in Process Control, at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. Patrick then worked briefly in an Engineering Company in Richmond Hill, Ontario before returning to Queen's to complete a Master of Arts Degree in Economics. Patrick has held leadership roles in the Financial, Energy, Consulting, Automobile and Data Science Industry. Most recently he was the Manager of Group Underwriting, New Business, Amendments and Analysis at one of the top Insurance Companies in Canada. In addition, he has two Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from Queen’s University, Kingston and, from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Patrick is also the CEO of 1001Squared Artificial Intelligence, a social enterprise he founded in 2017. 1001Squared AI's goal is to facilitate and advance the use of Artificial Intelligence to enhance education, especially in underprivileged and under-served areas of the world. St. Lawrence College’s Community-Based Learning Initiative engages students in translating their classroom learning into community-based projects. Enactus SLC is a student-run group that works to identify needs in the community and provides solutions for social, economic and environmental issues.
