We at ByCycling are aiming to save money to employers, preventing sick leaves in companies, which is always a pain. We believe bike commute is the best way to do some exercise when otherwise you don’t have the time for it, therefore we are developing an app that automatically track and motivate people to cycle to work and a platform who makes it easy to employers to implement this kind of bike to work programs into the organisations – We do this by building up motivation in people through cash rewards and social engagement. New Business Summit is the realization of our belief: In order to solve pressing societal problems most effectively, businesses today need to stem from an alignment of effort among various actors in an ecosystem. Entrepreneurs, corporates, investors, SMEs, research institutions and governments should come together with shared efforts to tackle real-world societal challenges. The event aims to be the platform addressing the need for this synergy. We call for enthusiastic owners and supporters of businesses in smart technology to join us. For startups the event creates an opportunity to exchange and validate their approach with the community that can think out loud with you. For all ecosystem actors it is the place where they can seek for future opportunities to collaborate. The event is co-organized by World Startup Factory, the startup entrepreneurs in our current Connectivity Accelerator and the City of The Hague. Highlights of the day include: 1) 8 breakout panel sessions including a startup, a corporate, an SME and a public institution, who will discuss their approach towards solving a societal challenge 2) An exclusive invite-only investor-startup carousel 3) The finals of Impact City’s The Hague Innovators Challenge ByCycling will be leading 1 of the break out sessions on promoting workforce health and productivity, and reduce healthcare cost for employers. We're looking for impact-driven, technology-savvy audience members focused on HR, health insurance, mobility, cycling and health & safety organisations. Keynote speaker Jeroen van der Sommen, the Co-Founder of Akvo. Jeroen van der Sommen has started as a groundwater hydrogeologist in West Africa and during 10 years in the field of water and sanitation and water resources management he learned about development. As a pioneer he loved to set up new teams, bringing people together, and to motivate and inspire them; in the Netherlands and abroad.Building bridges and managing partnerships was Jeroen's drive behind the Netherlands (and the European) Water Partnership: public-private parties, NGOs and knowledge institutes working on common goals. Innovation is the drive behind Akvo: in trying to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, how can we make better use of modern tools like mobile telephones and internet? What can prevent us from reinventing the wheel? Jeroen found that our (hydrological) memory is short or virtual none existing: we can do better: by being more transparent, by sharing our experience and knowledge more efficient and by reporting back on our failures and successes. Not each of us alone (with their own tools), but in international partnerships of governments, donors, foundations, NGOs, private companies and knowledge institutes in an 'open source' way.
