After Leong's family was affected by the 2011 natural disaster in Japan, he started the collective as a worldwide platform to unite artistic voices from disaster affected areas. The core ensemble is made of Dana Leong from China and Japan - cello, composer, Neel Murgai from India - sitar, Sameer Gupta from India - tabla, and DJ Val-Inc from Haiti - turntables, electronics. Their upcoming album features appearances by artists from over 10 countries including vocalist Keali’i Reichel from Hawaii. TEKTONIK's multimedia collaborations include presentations with Alibaba, United Nations New York, Four Seasons & Save the Children as well as performances featuring visual artists Android Jones (Animator with George Lucas, Greatful Dead, Bassnectar), National Geographic Photographer Mattias Klum, and Glowing Bulbs Visual Arts Collective. The mission behind TEKTONIK is to promote global harmony, alleviate stress and open the ultimate bandwidth for human happiness.
